Cooking Ingredients for Pulikkaachal (Tamarind Chutney) Recipe

An orange-sized tamarind
-ball
1 tb Jaggery; powdered
1 ts Turmeric
12 Green chiles; chopped
4 Sprigs curry leaves; chopped
1 4 piece ginger; chopped
Salt; to taste
-For Seasoning-
1 ts Black mustard seeds
1 ts Black gram dal
3 Red chiles; broken
4 tb Oil

Pulikkaachal (Tamarind Chutney) Preparation

Extract juice from tamarind. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, black gram dal and red chilies. When brown, add green chilies and curry leaves and fry for a couple of minutes. Now add tamarind juice, jaggery, turmeric, salt and ginger. Cook till mixture is thick.
