1 c Baking molasses
1 tb Baking soda
2 c Water – boiling
4 c Flour
2 c Brown sugar
3/4 c Shortening
1/2 ts Salt

Shofly Cake Preparation

Mix the molasses, baking soda and water and let cool. Cut the remianing ingredients to form a crumb, reserving one cup of the crumbs. Mix the remaining crumbs with the molasses mixture, it will be lumpy.
