1-2/3 c Flour
1 c Sugar
1/2 c Cocoa
1 ts Baking soda
1/2 c Salt
1 c Buttermilk
1/2 c Vegetable oil
2 ts Vanilla extract

Chocolate Buttermilk Cake 2 Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter an lightly flour two 8 round cake pans or one 9 X13 pan. Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil and vanilla, beating until smooth. Spread in the pans or pan, and bake, about 20-25 minutes for the small pans, 35-45 minutes for the large one. Test to see if a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes in the pan before turning out onto a rack. Frost with a light chocolate frosting.
