Cooking Ingredients for Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars 2 Recipe
48 Caramels; (unwrapped)
5 oz Evaporated milk; divided
1 pk Devils Food cake mix
1/2 c Unsalted butter
1-1/2 c Chopped nuts
1-1/2 c Chocolate Chips; divided
Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars 2 Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 deg. F Melt caramels with 1/3 Cup evaporated milk (takes about 5 min. in microwave oven set on high, but you may melt them in a double boiler.) Stir until smooth. Set aside. Mix remaining milk, cake mix and butter. Press 1/2 of the cake mixture into a greased 13×9 inch pan. Bake 8 minutes. Remove from oven (using a hot pad or oven mitt). Sprinkle half of the chopped nuts and 1/2 of the Chocolate Chips over crust. Top with all the caramel mixture. Then drop (by spoonfuls) the cake mixture evenly over the top. Sprinkle the remaining nuts and Chocolate Chips evenly over all the mixture in the pan. Bake 18 minutes. Remove from oven ( again using a hot pad ore oven mitt) and set on a wire rack.
