2 c Water
2 c Milk
2 c Regular; (not instant)
-rolled oats
1/2 ts Salt
3/4 c Raisins or chopped pitted
-prunes
2 Apples or firm pears;
-shredded
Ground cinnamon
Milk or cream; warmed, for
-serving
Brown sugar; for serving

Fruity Oatmeal Preparation

In a heavy saucepan, combine water, milk, oats and salt; place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to achieve a simmer, and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the prunes, apples and cinnamon to taste; continue to simmer, stirring frequently, until tender, about 5 minutes more. Spoon into bowls. Pass milk and sugar at the table. Yield: 4 servings.
