1 Yellow onion; peeled, sliced
-thin
3 Cucumbers; thinly sliced
1 c Water
1/2 c White vinegar
1/2 c Sugar
1/2 ts Celery; fennel, or mustard
-seed
Salt; as desired

Award-Winning Cucumber Salad Preparation

Place onion and cucumber in a bowl. In a saucepan, combine salt (if desired), water, vinegar and sugar, heating slightly to dissolve sugar. Add seeds. Pour over onion and cucumber. Chill and serve.
