1/4 c Butter or margarine
1/4 c Cake and Pastry Flour (I

1 cn (10 oz) consomme (I used 2
-beef bouillon packets
-dissolved in 1 1/4 cups
-boiling water)
1 Soup can orange juice (I
-used 1 1/4 cups)
1/2 ts Ginger (didn t have)
1/4 ts Garlic powder
Pepper to taste
1-1/2 lb Ground beef
2 Onions, thinly sliced
1 pk (10 oz) frozen green beans
Hong Kong Hamburger 2 Preparation
Isn”t insomnia great….? Here is a recipe that I made last week and it was quite good. It got the Umm, this is tasty seal of approval from my husband. I got it from an (old) Monarch Flour Canadian Cook Book Preheat oven to 350. In a saucepan melt butter and blend in flour until smooth. Gradually blend in next 5 ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Stir in ground beef and onions. Cook until meat loses read colour. Stir beans in until separated. Turn into 1 1/2 quart casserole. Cover and bake in preheated 350 oven for 20 minutes or until piping hot. Serve with fluffy rice. Makes 6 servings. My notes: I modified this somewhat: I browned the beef first and drained it. Then I proceeded on as directed and added the already cooked beef and let it simmer until onion softened a little. I only had a large package of French-Style green beans,so I just added just over a cup of those. I don”t have an oven, so I put the whole thing in a casserole and put it in the microwave for 10 minutes, rotating dish and stirring about 3 times during that time.
