Cooking Ingredients for Wartime Cake Recipe
1 c Dark brown sugar
1-1/4 c + 2 tsp
1/3 c Shortening
2 c Raisins
1/2 ts Nutmeg
2 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Ground cloves
1 ts Salt
1 ts Baking soda
2 c Sifted flour
1 ts Baking powder
Water
Wartime Cake Preparation
In saucepan, mix sugar, 1 1/4 cups water, shortening, raisins, nutmeg, cinnamon & cloves. Boil 3 min.; cool. Dissolve salt & soda in 2 tsp water. Add to mixture. Blend in flour mixed with baking powder. Pour into a greased & floured 8 square pan. Bake 325 for 50 min. Delicious uniced or top with a white frosting. This is eggless, milkless & butterless & was perfect for if you didn”t have a lot of points left. Recipe By : kitmailbx@aol.com
