Cooking Ingredients for Mom s Portuguese Bean Soup Recipe

1 lb Dry kidney beans
3 lb Ham hocks
3 Cloves garlic (large),
-minced
1 tb Salt
Pepper
5 tb Worcestershire sauce
1 lg Maui onion, diced
4 lg Potatoes, cubed
4 lg Carrots, sliced
1 lg Miko (hot) Portuguese
-sausage, sliced 1/4 thick
1 cn Tomato sauce (8 oz)
1 sm Maui cabbage, chopped

Mom s Portuguese Bean Soup Preparation

Soak beans overnight. Drain. Place beans in large soup pot and cover with water. Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer 3 hours or longer. Add water, if necessary. Remove ham hocks. Give your favorite cat or dog the bones, skin and fat. Break up the meat and return it to the soup. Add cabbage and simmer for an additional 30 minutes.
