Cooking Ingredients for Mulled Wine – Mrs Beeton Recipe

500 ml Water
6 Cloves
1 10-gram piece of bruised
-cinnamon stick
1 pn Grated nutmeg
Finely pared rind of 1/2
-lemon
1 Bottle claret
White sugar; (No quantity
-specified)

Mulled Wine – Mrs Beeton Preparation

Put water in pan and haet gently, stir in cloves, cinnamon stick, nutmeg and lemon rind. Heat to boiling point and simmer 10 mins. Strain liquid into basin, add wine, sweeten to taste with sugar.
