Cooking Ingredients for Supermom s Country-Style Tea Cakes Recipe
1 c Butter
2 c Sugar
1/2 ts Vanilla
2 Eggs
4 c All-purpose flour
1 ts Baking soda
2 ts Cream of tartar
2 tb Buttermilk or sweet;
-(regular) milk
Supermom s Country-Style Tea Cakes Preparation
Notes: From Supermom”s Country Cookin” Cookbook by Ophelia Warner (out of print). Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well. Combine flour, soda and cream of tartar. Add flour mixture, alternating with milk until all dry ingredients and milk are used. Beat well after each addition. Roll dough out thin (you can practically see through Supermom”s cookies). Cut with a medium-size heart-shaped cutter or in other shapes. Decorate with colored sugar if desired.
