Cooking Ingredients for Swiss Creamed Peas Recipe
6 c Frozen peas; 3 10-oz pkg.
2 c Sliced green onions
3 tb Butter or margarine
2 tb Flour
2 c Whipping cream
1 ts Finely shredded lemon peel
1-1/2 c Shredded Swiss cheese
Swiss Creamed Peas Preparation
In a large saucepan, cook peas according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, cook onions until tender, but not brown. Blend in flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add cream and lemon peel. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add cheese and stir until cheese is melted. Do not boil. Drain peas; return to large saucepan. Add sauce; stir to coat peas.
