Cooking Ingredients for Syrup Cake Recipe

1-1/2 c Sugar
1 c Cooking oil
1 c Cane syrup
1 c Boiling water
2 ts Baking soda
1 ts Ginger
1/2 ts Ground cloves
2-1/2 c Flour
2 Eggs; beaten
1 c Nuts; optional

Syrup Cake Preparation

Mix soda in boiling water; add syrup. Mix dry ingredients together; combine the two mixture; add oil. Add beaten eggs last; nuts optional. An electric mixer is not necessary. Pour mixture into a greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. From <A Taste of Louisiana>.
